Anastasia Semenyuk is from Russia. She is keen on learning Chinese and has played an active role in promoting Chinese culture on the internet.

Her interest in the Chinese language began in high school, when she took part in an academic exchange activity organized by her alma mater with a school in Changchun, Northeast China's Jilin province.

She started her studies at the prestigious Zhejiang University as a student of journalism and communications in 2014, and since then, she has continued to write Chinese poems.

"Expats in Hangzhou can see traditional Chinese culture mixing with modernity. I am proud to be living in this prosperous city and continue to fall in love with it," Semenyuk said.

She decided to stay in Hangzhou after graduating in 2018, and is inspired by things such as West Lake, the Grand Canal, and tea.

"West Lake often reminds me of Lake Baikal in my hometown and has inspired me to write more poems," Semenyuk said.

Since last year, Semenyuk has been sharing things about China on the internet and has garnered around 100,000 followers.

"I'd like to use my poems as a cultural bridge connecting China and Russia, and I hope more people from my country will appreciate the cultures here," Semenyuk said. "I also want to take my Chinese friends to Baikal so that they can experience Russian culture."
