Hangzhou CPPCC members voice their opinions

Sixteen members voiced their opinions at the fifth session of the 11th Hangzhou Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference on Feb 1.

Shi Yongfeng, who spoke for the science and technology sector, proposed speeding up innovation-driven development, putting forward more preferential policies, and increasing investment.

Zhao Qunyun, who spoke for the China Democratic League, said that the new middle school recruitment system has raised concern about the quality and vitality of the city's public middle schools.

"Hangzhou is known for its educational strength and we should think of what we can do to keep improving it," Zhao said.

Ying Quanying, who spoke for the local Women's Federation, proposed paying more attention to the healthy development of children and teenagers as young people nowadays are beset by heavy school work, various family obligations, and low social inclusiveness.

Fang Xuhui from the Association of Science and Technology proposed protecting and preserving Hangzhou's Grand Canal culture by highlighting its distinctive resources, bringing out advantages, and seeking coordinated development through current achievements.

Xia Lie, representing the news and publishing sector, analyzed the strengths and weaknesses of Hangzhou's e-sports industry, as well as proposed drawing up comprehensive plans and seeking new development possibilities in culture-tourism integration, side-line products, as well as themed recreation facilities.
