CPPCC proposals eye Hangzhou's present and future

The 502 proposals submitted by members of the Hangzhou Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference included specific suggestions on current work, as well as foresight into the city's future development, local media outlets reported.

A total of 109 proposals were about economy, science and technology, agriculture, as well as rural affairs. They included topics like developing digital industrial clusters, setting up national science centers, boosting the emerging industries of bio-pharmaceuticals, aeronautics, and astronautics, stimulating the nighttime economy, as well as standardizing livestream e-commerce.

Pressing topics were addressed in the 151 proposals regarding urban construction and management, tourism, as well as traffic, such as future city development, urban spatial layout, transportation network, food security, and urban comprehensive carrying capacity.

The 113 proposals about education, culture, healthcare, and sports mainly focused on balanced and high-quality educational development, cultural preservation, epidemic prevention and control measures, medical treatment alliances, the 2022 Asian Games, as well as public fitness programs.

Among the 97 proposals on urban governance and social security, pressing topics were addressed, such as developing the City Brain system, promoting digital communities, standardizing the housing rental market, improving community services for seniors, protecting labor rights and interests, as well as strengthening consumer-oriented services.
