A total of 10 individuals and six groups from Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang province, have been honored as role models in the country's poverty alleviation campaign. Let's find out more about the recipients.

Ye Zhengmeng, chairman of the Xinhu Philanthropic Foundation

Ye has since 2018 established 249 rural kindergartens in severely impoverished areas of Yunnan, Tibet autonomous region, Sichuan, Qinghai, Guizhou, and Hubei, serving nearly 10,000 children. The total enrollment rate for preschool children in Nujiang Lisu autonomous prefecture, Yunnan has risen from 58.9 percent in 2017 to 85 percent in 2020.

Wang has been devoted to improving medicine and medical treatment data at the Taijiang County People's Hospital in Guizhou for five years.

Shen visited over 400 impoverished villages in the past three years and worked out 12 targeted plans to support local economic and social development.

Wu has helped 55,913 families and 181,248 people in 118 villages out of poverty.

Zhou has helped purchase over 1,600 types of agricultural products weighing nearly 67,300 metric tons and costing a total of 608 million yuan ($94.12 million). The products came from 32 counties and cities in 13 provinces and autonomous regions.
