Hangzhou metropolitan circle seeks smart, digital momentum
To enhance the city's cultural charm, the work plan suggested protecting, researching, and taking advantage of Hangzhou's cultural heritages as well as improving the image of the Quzhou-Huangshan natural environment and cultural tourism.
The work plan also attached importance to the environment and encouraged Chun'an, a county with picturesque natural landscapes, to play a model role and share its green development strategies.
In applying technology to daily life, the plan stated that Hangzhou should play a leading role and strive to build a city cluster benefiting from its City Brain system, a smart city platform aiming to improve urban management through the use of a wide range of cutting-edge technologies.
An alliance for digital cooperation in the Hangzhou metropolitan circle was launched that day, aiming to help the circle play to its advantages in digital economy, share digital resources, promote regional exchange and cooperation in the digital industry, make digital achievements, and increase the circle's digitization.
Statistics show that the digital economy is a highlight of the circle, as it has gathered more than 76 percent of Zhejiang's total digital economic capacity, over 70 percent of China's cloud computing capabilities, and a number of industrial leaders.
The Hangzhou metropolitan circle was first proposed in 2007 and approved by the National Development and Innovation Committee in 2014. It was recognized as a national strategy two years later.
