Liu Weixue, a young man from Hangzhou's Yuhang district, and a group of elderly craftsman in their late 60s, are protecting and developing the art of making Yuhang oiled paper umbrellas in their own ways.  

Making an oiled paper umbrella includes at least 70 steps. Liu and the craftsmen can only make 1,000 of the umbrellas a year at most, which is much fewer than that of ordinary umbrella factories, but they remain insistent on keeping the traditional handicraft alive.
