The 'Picturesque Zhejiang' promotion event, which had the theme of Showcasing Quintessence of Liangzhu civilization and In Search for Melody along Poetry Road, was held at the Hangzhou Canal Culture Publishing Center on the evening of Oct 31 in Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province.

The event aimed to promote Zhejiang's Poetry Road, an inspiration to iconic poets during the Tang Dynasty (618-916) and Liangzhu civilization, which refers to the archaeological site of an ancient Chinese civilization from 5,000 years ago. It also strived to present to the world an excellent culture with Chinese characteristics, the Chinese spirit, and Chinese wisdom, as well as bolster the friendly and cultural image of China on the world stage.

During the event, the symphonic piece A Trip Down Poetry Lane: A New Symphony was played for the first time globally. The piece was composed by Hollywood musician Mark Chait, an Emmy Award and Telly Award winner, integrating international and Zhejiang characteristics.

During the event, Chait, the orchestra conductor, played the symphony together with Ding Yang, a world-class piano player, and major members of the Zhejiang Symphony Orchestra. Four other internationally renowned musicians also participated online in the debut performance of the symphony.

Thirty pieces of clothing, all designed by leading Chinese fashion masters and Xiong Ying, founder of the Heaven Gaia, were presented during the large-scale clothing show Showcasing Quintessence of the Liangzhu Civilization.

Designers selected the most representative totems, jade artifacts, and symbols of Liangzhu civilization, combining them with nature and culture elements, as well as the characteristics of the area south of the Yangtze River to showcase the splendid scenery and culture of Zhejiang.
