Wu Shanzeng, 90, a practitioner of the time-honored Pujiang paper-cutting technique, is using his sway to welcome the approaching 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022.

Wu started designing fans for the big event a few months ago, creating a combination of traditional culture and modern activities and aiming to offer a sensory feast.

His fans feature an intricate openwork design that incorporates elements such as the mascots of the event and the landscapes of Hangzhou. Scissors and knives were used to bring the designs to life.

Wu also insisted on sharing his craftsmanship with local paper-cutting enthusiasts, hoping to promote the technique to more people.
