Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province, was recently awarded the honorary title of "2021 Best Employment Promotion City", local media outlets reported.

This is the second year Hangzhou has been awarded the title, which is a recognition of the city’s efforts in promoting employment, supporting enterprise development, and keeping employment stable.

The award has been given out for the past 17 years by Zhaopin, an online recruitment platform, the China Association of Labor Economics, and Peking University.

Statistics show that from January to November, 888,000 new jobs were created in Hangzhou. The quality and structure of employment in the city had also improved.

Forty-three employment and entrepreneurship services, including unemployment insurance, can now be accessed via the "Zhe Jiu Ye" mobile app, which has been used by over 200,000 people.

Hangzhou has also become a hub for high-caliber professionals and college graduates due to its emerging digital industries. By introducing generous accommodation and living allowances, the city has attracted 138,979 college graduates – a 14.42 percent year-on-year increase – between the start of the year and November.

To date, Hangzhou has granted 499 million yuan ($78.34 million) in employment and entrepreneurship subsidies, 1.77 billion yuan in unemployment insurance benefits, unemployment subsidies, and skill improvement subsidies, and 858 million yuan in guaranteed loans for start-up businesses.
