Nadezhda Bukina, a Kazakhstani living in Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province for five years, has successfully made the transition from grade-A student to entrepreneur.

"I enjoyed graduate school in Hangzhou, and have fallen in love with the city," Bukina said.

Bukina now runs a new media company at the Hangzhou International Talent Innovation and Entrepreneurship Park. Her entrepreneurial dream started while she was studying at Hangzhou Dianzi University, during which time she also engaged in various activities to improve her understanding of Hangzhou's business environment.

When she was a student, she did some work for a cosmetics brand founded by another overseas student, serving as a product model and designing print advertisements. She has also taken part in various entrepreneurial competitions to boost her practical experience.

"The activities I attended gave me many business ideas," Bukina said.

Gaining solid support from the Hangzhou local government, Bukina's business has continued to expand in recent years, but her original aspiration hasn't changed.

"I hope that I can use my knowledge to break cultural barriers between Chinese and overseas companies and help Chinese brands connect with foreigners through social media and other digital resources," Bukina said.
