Construction on the photovoltaic power station of Hangzhou West Railway Station is in full swing, local media outlets reported.

Photovoltaic panels have been laid on the southwest corner of the station house and photovoltaic module holders in the other three corners are being installed, which is expected to be completed at the same time as the railway station's main building in late April. The grid connection will be completed in late June.

As a major traffic hub designed for the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022, the station adheres to the event's philosophy of energy conservation and has set up 7,540 PV panels for a 15,000-square-meter area.

Once completed, it is expected to generate 2.31 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, which can be used for advertising, shops and air conditioning, reducing electricity costs. It is also expected to help save more than 800 metric tons in standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 2,330 tons every year.

"The station will help relieve the energy shortage, improve the environment, promote the green and low-carbon energy transformation of Hangzhou, and help realize the goal of peaking carbon dioxide emissions before 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality before 2060," said an official of the station.
