Authorities in Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province, announced at a press conference on Sept 26 that Sept 28 will be designated as "Talent Day".

The holiday was established to pay respect to talents and make the city a better place for them to live in, according to local authorities.

There are eight series of activities to celebrate the first Talent Day.

A municipal forum will be held to discuss the city's introduction and cultivation of talents.

A seminar is scheduled to be held to discuss making Hangzhou an ideal destination for innovation and entrepreneurship.

The municipal government will send an official letter to pay its respect and acknowledgments to talents in Hangzhou.

Honorary titles will be given to outstanding talents.

Government officials will visit employers and listen to their issues and suggestions regarding talent development.

Hangzhou will invite Zhejiang-born academicians to conduct surveys in the city and listen  to their suggestions.

The "golden autumn" recruitment fair will kick off to attract more university graduates seeking employment in Hangzhou.

Over 30 Talent Day-themed activities, including competitions, roadshows, forums, and job fairs, will be held in each district and county.

Hangzhou is one of the top destinations for talents. Since Jan 1, the city has held 704 job fairs, which attracted 73,500 employers and offered 1.25 million jobs.
