The GDP of Jiande, a county-level city under the administration of Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province, has grown at an average annual rate of 7.4 percent from 25 billion yuan ($3.51 billion) in 2012 to 43.1 billion yuan in 2021, Fu Yongwei, the top official of Jiande said at a news brief on the city's achievements made over the last decade on Sept 21.

The total output of Jiande firms above a designated size, or with an annual revenue of 20 million yuan, has exceeded 60 billion yuan. The affordable income of residents in the city's urban and rural areas has increased 1.1 times and 1.3 times, respectively.

The achievement is partly due to the city's efforts in rooting out the laggard productivity. Over the past 10 years, Jiande has shut down 1,447 firms that failed to align themselves to the public production standards.

Meanwhile, the city has introduced 151 high-quality major industrial projects including eastern China's largest pumped storage power station manufacturing project and the mineral water giant Nongfu Spring's projects.

Over the past decade, the city has cultivated six agricultural products honored with national geological indication, the highest number among counties and county-level cities in Zhejiang.

The city has spent 12.5 billion yuan during the past 10 years to improve its transportation network. Major transportation projects such as the Hangzhou-Huangshan High-Speed Railway and the No 23 Zhejiang High Way have been completed and run into operations.
