The GDP of Tonglu county in Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province, has grown from 25 billion yuan ($3.51 billion) in 2012 to 41.4 billion yuan in 2021, according to Zhang Huina, the top official of the county at a briefing on the county's development over the past decade on Sept 22.

The public budget revenue of the county has increased from 1.95 billion yuan to 3.84 billion yuan over the last decade, according to Zhang.

The county used to live on traditional industries of textile, pens making, and bags and suitcases. Now the county turns to sectors of smart vision, magnetic materials, new energy and logistics for high-quality growth. It is making strong efforts to introduce high-tech firms such as Hikvision and Geely.

Tonglu has been tapping its tourism resources to prosper its economy. The homestay industry has become an iconic name card for the county's tourism sector. It is now home to 132 featured homestays recognized by the province.

The transportation network in the county has been constantly improved over the last decade, helping Tonglu better get involved in the Yangtze Delta region.

As the Hangzhou Asian Games draw near, Tonglu will usher in a new chapter for the development of its sports industry. The county will host the equestrian event as part of the Hangzhou Asian Games.
