Gongshu looks back at achievements made over last decade

The GDP of Gongshu district in Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province, grew at average annual rate of 7.3 percent to 196.9 billion yuan ($27.67 billion) in 2021 from a decade ago, said Li Zhilong, the top official of Gongshu, at a briefing on the district's achievements made over the past decade on Sept 27.

The total retail sales of consumer goods in the district have reached 127.3 billion yuan, larger than that of any other districts in Zhejiang.

Over the past 10 years, Gongshu has been committed to introducing high-quality projects while shutting down factories that consume high energy and generate high emission.

Large complexes such as the Jiali Center and COFCO Dayuecheng have been set up in the district, along with a number of featured commercial streets including the Hangzhou Silk City Pedestrian Street and the Victory River Food Street.

Gongshu has been emphasizing on the development of the digital economy sector. The district has introduced more than 1,100 digital economy projects and an array of leading industrial players.

Over the past 10 years, Gongshu has been increasing its expenditure on improving people's lives. So far, the district has renovated 257 old residential buildings.

In terms of education, the district has spent more than 20 billion yuan in it. The number of standardized kindergartens recognized by the province is the largest among all districts in the province.
