"At the same time, I noted in the report that balancing traditional culture with modernization is a key feature of China's development. I believe that African countries can learn more from China's unique development path," Mupona said.

Mupona first arrived in Hangzhou in 2017 and found it difficult to fit into his new environment. As such, he decided to participate in volunteer activities to meet new people. He has since been involved in activities such as directing traffic at the Xihu Lake scenic area, assisting passengers at the railway station, and teaching senior Hangzhou residents English.

Mupona has also established an international volunteer service platform to help more overseas students adapt to their lives in China. The online platform currently has volunteers from nearly 100 countries.
