The Zhejiang Art Museum in Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province, is holding an exhibition entitled Artist's Elegance: A Century of Oil Painting in Zhejiang, until Feb 12, 2023. It recounts the development of oil art in the province.

Zhejiang province was an important hub for oil painting, helping the medium to take root in China in the early 20th century. It used to attract celebrated oil artists and educators.

The China Academy of Art, which was established in the provincial capital in 1928, has cultivated generations of talent in the realm throughout decades. Prominent figures include Lin Fengmian, Zao Wou-ki, Wu Guanzhong and Chu Teh-chun, to name a few.

The exhibition, which covers nine exhibition halls, features roughly 280 works by celebrated painters who have shaped the landscape of art in the country and celebrates the history of art in Zhejiang in and its experimental spirit in embracing new trends.
