Two greenways in Hangzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, were recently named among the most beautiful in the province, local media outlets reported.

The first one, which travels across Gongshu and Shangcheng districts, is famous for its location next to the Grand Canal, a centuries-old heritage item that was inscribed onto the UNESCO World Heritage list a few years ago.

Following the principle of restoring old things to look old, the greenway has preserved many cultural relics and threaded them together with different themes. It has put information about the relics' cultural backgrounds into QR codes, decorated them with various floral displays, and integrated them with sporting facilities.

The other greenway is located at the sports center of Jieshou township, Chun'an county, a sports venue for the upcoming 19th Asian Games, which will be held in Hangzhou from Sept 23 to Oct 8, 2023. Chun'an is best known for the picturesque Qiandao Lake, or "lake of a thousand islets".

Stretching a total length of 13.6 kilometers, the greenway consists of a 6-m-wide Asian Games Avenue, a 2-m-wide walkway, and two 3-m-wide standard courses for mountain cycling and triathlon running.

The greenway also includes apartments, an amusement park, resorts, hotels, and Asian Games venues.
