The list of winners of the 2022 London Design Awards was recently released, with multiple projects in Hangzhou being selected.
The award is run by Better Future, an independent global design promotion organization that oversees recognition programs and the world's largest network of design awards.
Hangzhou Hubin Intime in77, which is located in the center of Hubin Pedestrian Street next to West Lake, won the golden award in the international commercial architecture field.
Two light design projects: Lighting Improvement of the Hangzhou South Railway Station Area and the Hangzhou Branch of the National Archives of Publications and Culture, won the silver awards.
The Hangzhou South Railway Station was one of the first key environmental enhancement projects for the 19th Asian Games. The lighting improvement features Chinese-style architectural forms. It also contributes to the development of a sustainable nighttime economy and the fusion of transportation and urban space.
The Hangzhou Branch of the National Archives of Publications and Culture is also known as Wenrun Ge, which literally means "culturally nourishing". The lighting design of the south part emphasizes the symbiotic relationship between the building, mountain, water, and corridor. More than 100 kinds of lighting devices are used and reflective materials are adopted to present a unique but unified night scene.
