The Nepal Olympic Committee organized the latest Asian Games Fun Run at Patan Durbar Square in Lalitpur, Nepal on Feb 17, attracting about 600 participants, local media outlets reported.

The event took place almost seven months ahead of the Games set to be held in Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province, from Sept 23 to Oct 8.

Athletes, coaches and officials of the NOC and the Nepali Ministry of Youth and Sports participated in the run organized to raise awareness of the 19th Asian Games.

Wang Minghua, deputy director of ceremonies and events department of the Hangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee, said that Hangzhou was almost ready to host the event that was postponed for a year owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cricket and football are popular sports in Nepal, while wushu, judo and taekwondo are the dominant sports in Nepal. Hundreds of athletes are expected to participate in 22 sports at the Hangzhou Asian Games.
