The Myanmar leg of the Hangzhou Asian Games Fun Run attracted 300 participants to the Institute of Sports and Physical Education in Tarmwe Township of Yangon on March 10, local media outlets reported.

The 15th edition of the Asian Games Fun Run series comprises three categories: A 1.4-kilometer edition for boys and girls aged 13 and over, a 400-meter edition for boys and girls under 12, and a 400-meter edition for special needs athletes.

Jeans Zhou Jian, the director of Media and Broadcasting at the Olympic Committee of Asia, said the Myanmar leg represented a landmark as it was the halfway point of the 30-fun run project taking place around the continent.

It was also the first time for Myanmar to host the promotional activity.

"China and Myanmar have enjoyed good relations for many decades, and I hope that the Hangzhou Asian Games will be held successfully as one of the biggest in Asian Games history," said Tun Myint Oo, director general of the Sports and Physical Education Department of Myanmar's Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs.
