Residents of Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province, are passionate about studying English, as they want to help foreign guests coming to Hangzhou for the upcoming Asian Games, local media reported.
On the afternoon of April 11, on the bank of Yueya Lake on the east side of the south gate of Hangzhou Dianzi University, an international student from Kyrgyzstan was helping some "students" practice English.
Those "students" were the university's security guards, cleaners, garden workers, cooks and other logistics staff. The five teachers who teach them English are all international students from the university's School of International Education.
"We are extremely proud that the Asian Games will be held in Hangzhou," said Cheng Huiyong, a security guard who participated in the English training class. "We all can help foreign guests at the Asian Games."
Cheng said that he is studying hard. "If you happen to encounter international tourists in need during the Asian Games, you can communicate with them. That's a fantastic thing."
