An event marking World Autism Day, which is celebrated on April 2 every year, was held recently in Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province and host city of the Asian Games, and 30 children with autism spectrum disorder, often known as "children of the stars", participated in the event together with non-autistic children, local media reported.

During the event, the children sang Me and My Motherland, winning warm applause from the audience.

Guided by teachers, children with taekwondo skills taught the "children of the stars" simple taekwondo moves. Some young volunteers played games with the children, touching shoulders and holding hands with each other.

At the end of the event, the children learned about the Asian Games, picked up colored pens together, drew pictures to cheer on Asian Games athletes.

"This activity is expected to give all sectors of society a better understanding of autistic children and help them better integrate into society," said a manager from the Lin'an district disabled persons' federation. "The federation plans to unite more organizations and people with a loving heart to continue to care for the 'children of the stars'."
