The Hangzhou Bay Bridge was built across the mouth of Hangzhou Bay in the eastern coastal region of China. It connects Jiaxing and Ningbo, two prosperous cities in East China's Zhejiang Province. The bridge, 36 kilometers in length, is one of the world's longest trans-oceanic bridges.
Completed on June 14, 2007, and opened to traffic on May 1, 2008, the bridge has shortened the travel distance between Ningbo and Shanghai by 120 kilometers and reduced driving time from four to two hours.
