A group of university students from Turkiye recently finished a two-week cultural exploration summer camp in Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province.

The camp was hosted by Zhejiang International Studies University, with the support of the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education.

With the slogan "Welcoming the Asian Games, Savoring the Charm of the Song Dynasty," the camp enabled students from Istanbul University and Okan University in Turkiye to embark on a fascinating "China Odyssey".

In classes such as "Basic Chinese" and "Chinese Conversation", situational dialogues and experiential learning were used to help the campers learn about the Chinese language and characters.

The camp also featured courses such as "Overview of the Hangzhou Asian Games" and "Asian Games Volunteer Etiquette", showcasing the hospitable and dynamic image of host city Hangzhou.

The visiting students also participated in diverse cultural experience classes like Song Dynasty (960-1279) culture, martial arts, calligraphy, painting, and traditional music. They delved into the rich heritage of Chinese traditional culture through visits to sites such as West Lake, the Grand Canal, Archaeological Ruins Site of Liangzhu, Deshou Palace, China National Tea Museum, and China Fan Museum.

After the conclusion of the camp, the participants expressed their appreciation and gratitude.

"The natural beauty and cultural richness here are captivating, and the Chinese people are warm and hospitable," said one participant.
