An exhibition featuring artworks by Zhao Zhiqian, a painter, calligrapher and seal cutter, opened its doors to the public at the Zhejiang Art Museum on Dec 5.

The Zhao Zhiqian Art Exhibition is another major exhibition following the Chinese Traditional Classics Series independently curated by the museum and featuring renowned artists such as Wang Duo, Fu Shan, and He Shaoji in recent years. This exhibition marks the first appearance of a native Zhejiang artist in the series.

To comprehensively showcase Zhao's artistic journey and style, nearly 300 works of art and documents have been borrowed from 18 museums and art institutions nationwide.

The exhibits, curated and organized into four categories – calligraphy, painting, seal cutting, and literature – offer insights into Zhao's artistic achievements and stylistic features. It is a culmination of Zhao's representative works and represents the most robust and expansive exhibition dedicated to Zhao in recent years.

Visitors will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the intricate world of seal cutting and the vastness of painting as well as gain an understanding of Zhao's artistic life.

Zhao, an outstanding painter from the late Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), has earned acclaim as one of the "Three Great Painters of the Late Qing Dynasty" due to his exquisite skills and unique artistic style.
