The French Art of Living Exhibition was held in Hangzhou on Dec 6 in anticipation of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and France.
The opening ceremony was attended by Joan Valadou, consul general of France in Shanghai, along with more than 300 artists, designers, dignitaries, professionals, and media representatives.
Valadou said that the art of living is a hallmark of France, reflected in its history, culture, and cuisine. He emphasized the profound cultural ties between China and France, with both nations having a deep appreciation for the art of living.
The exhibition attracted 17 prestigious French brands, illustrating how French artisans and cultural heritage enterprises blend tradition with innovation, craftsmanship with creativity, and dedication with passion.
Hangzhou stands out as one of the most dynamic cities in China for French decorative arts and design. In 2022, French exports to Hangzhou saw a 15-percent increase compared to 2021, with significant growth in the trade of luxury goods, perfumes, cosmetics, leather products, home furnishings, and art.
The exhibition, lasting until Jan 27, 2024, holds historical significance as China and France officially established diplomatic relations on this day 60 years ago. In 2024, the two nations will further celebrate Cultural Tourism Year, coinciding with the 33rd Summer Olympic Games to be hosted in Paris.
