This month marks the initiation of the Chun'an (Qiandao Lake) Whisky Brewing Program, a venture backed by Angus Dundee Distillers PLC, a prominent UK-based distillery. The program is breaking ground in Chun'an county, setting the stage for a groundbreaking Malt Whisky Brewing Project.

With a substantial investment of 700 million yuan ($97.66 million), the Chun'an project is planned to occupy approximately 10 acres for its state-of-the-art distillery, aiming to integrate whisky production with tourism, offering visitors an immersive experience to learn about the intricate process of whisky brewing while indulging in the refined flavors of the crafted liquor.

Aaron Hillman, the company director, expressed, "We selected this location due to the exceptional quality of local water and the picturesque environment, providing an ideal setting for creating the finest Chinese single malt whisky. Our aspiration is to establish an iconic distillery, positioned to be a premier producer of single malt whisky in both China and Asia."

Upon completion, the distillery's initial annual production capacity is set to reach 1.5 million liters, with the potential to scale up to 3 million liters. At full production capacity, it is anticipated to yield an annual gross revenue exceeding 600 million yuan, contributing over 120 million yuan in taxes.

The project timeline foresees completion within two years, with the inaugural batch of Qiandao Lake Whisky poised to hit the market five years from now.
