The 2023 Hangzhou Marathon kicked off at 8:30 am on Dec 17.

Despite the freezing temperatures, the enthusiasm of participants remained high, with over 30,000 runners from approximately 20 countries and regions participating.

Oliya, hailing from Ukraine, has been living in Hangzhou for nearly 10 years. She made her way to the starting line at the Huanglong Sports Center to cheer for the runners.

Witnessing everyone running towards their goals, Oliya couldn't resist joining in and recalled her unforgettable memories of the 19th Hangzhou Asian Games in autumn, when Oliya participated in the "Rose Run" event, stating, "Experiencing the Hangzhou Marathon brings back memories of the Asian Games for me."

While participating in the marathon, Oliya expressed her passion for various sports such as basketball, volleyball, swimming, and badminton, saying, "But no matter which sport, I can always find like-minded friends in Hangzhou."

For Oliya, sports are not just a way to exercise but also a means to strengthen friendships and understand the city. Through sports, friendships are fostered among people from different cultural backgrounds. This embodies the spirit of the Hangzhou Asian Games.

"I hope more people come to understand the city's strength in sports. It will surely leave everyone with a beautiful and profound impression," Oliya said.
