Hangzhou's Liangzhu Museum is set to host the "The Immortal: Continued and Gorgeous Lacquer Art" exhibition from Dec 27 to May 5, 2024.

The curated exhibition, featuring nearly 100 exquisite lacquer artifacts from 11 cultural institutions such as the Shanghai Museum and the Shanxi Museum, takes visitors on a journey through the rich history of lacquer art.

It explores lacquer art's evolution, starting with artifacts from the Liangzhu Culture. Grounded in both archaeological and artistic perspectives, the exhibition draws comparisons between ancient and contemporary lacquer craftsmanship.

The exhibition is structured around three key elements: Why Immortality, What Defines Immortality, and The Essence of Immortality. The approach aims to highlight the preservation, transformation, artistic texture, and spiritual significance of lacquer, a unique material resonating with the essence of the East.

To enhance the visitor experience, the exhibition includes a fold-out guide that not only traces the development and characteristics of lacquer over thousands of years but also summarizes each section of the exhibition.
