Hangzhou aims to magnify the impact of the Asian Games by intensifying the implementation of its internationalization efforts and striving to become a model city for public fitness, as revealed during the 2024 Hangzhou Sports Work Conference.

The city formulated a three-year action plan to position itself as a hub for international sports events, with a focus on introducing more high-level competitions. Currently hosting events like the inaugural International Kayaking Hangzhou Super Cup, the 2024 BWF World Tour Finals, and the 2024 World Drone Championships, Hangzhou is also bidding for over 20 other international events.

Additionally, leveraging its natural and cultural advantages, Hangzhou will create distinctive local events and nurture local event brands.

In terms of public fitness, Hangzhou will optimize the distribution of sports facilities, creating a citywide "10-minute fitness circle", with over 300 scattered fitness facilities and more than 350,000 square meters of sports venues.

Hangzhou will also standardize the opening of sports venues during non-working hours in 240 government agencies, institutions, and enterprises, as well as 1,184 schools by the end of this year.

Regarding competitive sports, Hangzhou will prioritize enhancing the physical fitness of young people and cultivating competitive sports reserve talent, continuously promoting the integration of sports and education.

In terms of sports economy, the city will encourage localities to create high-quality sports industry projects, expand the sports consumption market share, and promote the integration of sports with culture, tourism, education, technology, health preservation, and medical industries.
