Hangzhou's foreign trade reached 756.48 billion yuan ($112.11 billion) in 2022, up 2.7 percent year-on-year, accounting for 16.2 percent of Zhejiang province's total, according to statistics released by Qianjiang Customs on Feb 1.

The city's exports reached 514.06 billion yuan, surpassing the 500 billion yuan for the first time.

With the optimization of the export commodity structure, high-tech products became the top export from Hangzhou, which registered an annual value of 104.06 billion yuan and accounted for 26.9 percent of the city's total exports.

More made-in-Hangzhou products have also been able to gain footholds in overseas markets with the help of cross-border e-commerce platforms. Statistics show that last year, Hangzhou exported 15.04 billion yuan through customs' cross-border e-commerce platforms, up 22 percent year-on-year.

"It only takes about five days for foreign buyers to receive their goods after placing orders, so they have a better shopping experience, which enhances our competitiveness in exploring overseas markets," said the director of a supply chain management company in Hangzhou.

Enterprises can send goods to overseas warehouses in advance through cross-border logistics according to previous sales, and the goods will be shipped directly from overseas warehouses after customers place their order. The method boasts low logistical cost, high delivery efficiency, and good after-sales service.
