Construction on the e-sports venue for the 19th Asian Games, which will be held in Hangzhou in September 2022, is in full swing, local media outlets reported on Feb 22.
The venue, which started construction on Sept 24, 2020, is the first of its kind in China especially designed for e-sports. It covers an area of 80,000 square meters and features a vortex-like ceiling.
With delicate planning and a careful layout, the venue is able to meet needs for both during and after the Asian Games. It can also accommodate 4,087 spectators.
The venue is expected to be completed before Oct 31, with current construction half a month ahead of schedule. Once completed, the venue will also host domestic and global top e-sports events. High hopes have been placed on the venue to promote Hangzhou's image and to develop the city's e-sports industry.
