As the 19th Asian Games are about to kick off in Hangzhou, the construction of sports venues is being widely discussed by the public.
There are currently 54 venues under construction. What are they? In this episode, we'll take a closer look at the unique features of some venues.
The Big Lotus, which is the main venue of the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center, will host both the opening and closing ceremonies of the Games. Surrounded by colorful seats, it is the third largest sports center in China, with a capacity of 80,000 people.
Just a short walks away is the Little Lotus, which will serve as the venue for tennis matches. It has adopted a petal design, and its petals can open or close depending on the weather.
Hangzhou's biggest "umbrella", which will serve as the hockey venue, will be unveiled after its roof is completed.
At the Grand Canal Asian Games Park, intelligent supporting facilities are also being widely used, including a sponge base under the lawn meant to collect water and prevent manual irrigation. Every street light is being equipped with a 5G network.
