Linping Sports Center reopens

The Linping Sports Center, an Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 venue, in Linping district, Hangzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, reopened to the public on Sept 5.

The sports center is the first venue of the Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 to start operating after reconstruction and expansion.

With an overall floorage of 95,000 square meters, Linping Sports Center includes a gymnasium, a stadium, a swimming pool, a training center, and a stormproof playground.

Covering an area of 8,383 square meters, the gymnasium houses a pitch that is 46 meters in length and 28.5 meters in width and has 4,300 seats, while the 22,050-square-meter stadium includes a 400-meter standard circular track and 10,200 seats.

The Linping Sports Center is expected to host the preliminary matches for football and volleyball and the preliminary and final matches for karate during the Asian Games. It will also host the preliminary and final matches for sitting volleyball during the 2022 Asian Para Games.

Twelve gold medals for the Asian Games and two for the Para Games will be given out at the sports center.

The 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 is set to take place in Hangzhou from Sept 10 to 25, 2022 and the 4th Asian Para Games will open on October 9, 2022.
