Hangzhou marks Prophylactic Vaccination Day

About 99.29 percent of eligible children have been vaccinated against common epidemic diseases in Hangzhou, 2021, local health authorities revealed on April 25, which marked the 36th China Prophylactic Vaccination Day.
According to Liu Yan, director of the department of immunity at the Hangzhou Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Hangzhou has for the past 42 years not seen diphtheria cases. There has also been no incidence of infantile paralysis cases for the last 30 years.
Liu said that the incidence rate of measles, HBV and pertussis has been greatly lowered in Hangzhou over the past 30 years.
To date, over 30 million COVID-19 vaccination doses have been administered in the city. Over 70 percent of Hangzhou residents have received their booster shots.
Hangzhou began vaccinating children aged between 3 and 11 against COVID-19 last October.
Liu also advised that children aged between 3 and 11 who are eligible for vaccination should be vaccinated against COVID-19.
She added that Hangzhou has not reported any adverse reactions to COVID-19 vaccinations in children.
