Gao Yaqin, a quality assurance engineer at Hangzhou-based Betta Pharmaceuticals Co, said she was motivated and inspired by the Health China Initiative mentioned at the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.

"The initiative has given priority to ensuring people's health and improving related policies," Gao said.

Having been engaged in the quality assurance industry for 12 years, Gao said that over the past decade she has witnessed the country rolling out a variety of medicine review and approval policies, consistently reforming the medical and health sectors, and bringing tangible benefits to the general public.

Gao said that Hangzhou, a fertile land of innovation, has enacted various preferential policies and infused strong momentum into the independent innovation of pharmaceutical enterprises and the marketing of new homemade drugs.

She was also impressed by the big picture painted by the congress report on setting up a team of innovative sci-tech professionals.

"I have been keen to discover and cultivate new professionals in the industry," Gao said. "The national strategies to build a country strong in sci-tech education, talent, and innovation-driven progress have catalyzed the pharmaceutical industry. I do hope that more talent and innovation can help the industry," Gao said.
