A spring camping party to welcome the Asian Games was held in the Wangjiang sub-district of Shangcheng district on April 13, local media outlets reported.

More than 30 delivery and takeaway workers, ride-hail drivers, and community volunteers received Asian Games reading materials and pocket English cards, which included QR codes for learning English.

English conversations could be heard occasionally at the event, with Song Hong and Fu Youling, two middle-aged volunteers at Dongyuan community, being the first residents in the community to learn English. Every weekend, they participate in community English training classes and carry English flashcards with them to learn any unfamiliar sentences by scanning the QR code.

The camping party also featured newly-decorated small pavilions, which were originally nucleic acid sampling booths but have been repurposed.

For example, some have been transformed into so-called "Love Stations" where outdoor workers, delivery drivers, and courier workers can take a break. Some have become Asian Youth Volunteers Stations where people can receive help.
