A grand water wedding performance themed around Song Dynasty (960-1279) culture was held in Yanzhou ancient town in Jiande city, Hangzhou, Zhejiang province on May 3, attracting many tourists.
The water wedding performance invited a team of experts from across Zhejiang province, with the respectable poet and philosopher Zhu Xi's Zhu Family Ceremony as the basis for examination.
The performance, which included five acts – leaving the chamber, dressing up, boarding the boat, welcoming the bride and groom, and exchanging bows – was unique to Yanzhou.
In recent years, Yanzhou ancient town, with over 1,700 years of history, has been committed to creating an immersive Song Dynasty cultural block and has launched performances such as Governor's Parade, Governor's Welcome, Song Dynasty Songs and Dances, and Song Dynasty Acrobatics, bringing Song Dynasty culture to life.
