Hangzhou leads Zhejiang province in average per capita income

The first half of 2023 saw Hangzhou's residents enjoying the highest average income and expenditure in Zhejiang province, with growth rates rebounding from the first quarter, according to data from the Hangzhou branch of the National Bureau of Statistics.

The per capita disposable income for Hangzhou residents reached 41,053 yuan ($5,692), marking a year-on-year growth of 5.4 percent, a 1.2 percentage point increase from the first quarter.

For urban residents, the per capita disposable income stood at 45,489 yuan, reflecting a 5.0 percent year-on-year increase. The figure outpaced the provincial average by 5,761 yuan, reinforcing Hangzhou's leading role within the province.

Rural residents also experienced growth, with the per capita disposable income reaching 25,754 yuan, a 7.0 percent year-on-year increase.

During the first six months, the per capita consumption expenditure for Hangzhou residents totaled 24,266 yuan, surpassing the provincial average by 3,599 yuan. The growth rate of 9.0 percent outperformed the provincial rate by 0.2 percentage points.

Urban residents' per capita consumption expenditure reached 26,485 yuan, registering an 8.6 percent growth, while rural residents' per capita consumption expenditure increased by 10.2 percent to 16,616 yuan.
