The initial contingent of racehorses bound for the Asian Games made their touchdown in Hangzhou on Thursday after a journey spanning nearly 16 hours from Germany.

Close to 50 horses are now accommodated at the Tonglu Equestrian Center, which has been equipped with medical provisions and a dedicated team of veterinarians on standby. In total, nearly 120 horses are slated to participate in the Games.

Martin Atock, managing director of Peden Blockstock, expressed his satisfaction with the cooperation between their team and local authorities, saying, "The work has been very successful with local authorities. We've worked intensively to provide the very best conditions. We operate at night when it's calm and cool."

Zhang Zushun, acting deputy director of the Equestrian Events Management and Operations Center, highlighted the meticulous customs procedures put in place for the clearance and inspection of the horses.

Zhou Renbi, also acting deputy director of the Equestrian Events Management and Operations Center, detailed additional measures taken for the well-being of the horses, "We have established an Equine Disease-Free Zone that adheres to the standards of the World Organization of Animal Health. Furthermore, all roads leading from the airport to the competition grounds have implemented a 1-kilometer buffer area to prevent any cross-contact with other animals."

With meticulous planning and stringent health measures in place, the Tonglu Equestrian Center stands ready to provide a secure and welcoming environment for these prized equine athletes as they prepare to compete on the grand stage of the Asian Games.
