In early September, the first wave of osmanthus flowers had already bloomed in Hangzhou. However, with temperatures rapidly rising, their fragrance was short-lived.
Over the next two days, Hangzhou is expected to witness another wave of osmanthus blossoms, filling the city with more fragrance. The natural phenomenon will add to the already exciting atmosphere in the city, where the Asian Games are currently being held.
With the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day approaching, blooming osmanthus offer an opportunity for residents and visitors to appreciate the fragrant blossoms while enjoying moonlit nights.
If the weather remains favorable, the peak blooming period of osmanthus can last for seven to 10 days. However, heavy rainfall may cause the blossoms to disappear prematurely. Fortunately, Hangzhou features various osmanthus varieties that bloom in waves, ensuring that the sweet scent will linger until the end of October.
Osmanthus blossoms have long held a special place in the hearts of Hangzhou's residents. Known as the "City of Osmanthus", Hangzhou celebrates this natural wonder with various cultural activities and festivals. The blossoms not only please the senses but also symbolize the city's beauty and charm.
