The China Academy of Art celebrated its 95th anniversary with a grand ceremony held at its newly-opened Liangzhu Campus on Nov 10.

In 1928, Cai Yuanpei, then president of Peking University, established the precursor to the China Academy of Art, known as the National Art Academy, on the banks of West Lake in Hangzhou. This marked the beginning of higher education in fine arts in China.

Today, the China Academy of Art has grown into a prestigious institution with five campuses in Hangzhou and Shanghai, namely Nanshan, Xiangshan, Liangzhu, Xianghu and Zhangjiang.

The highlight of the event was a lighting ceremony marking the start of a series of academic activities for the 95th anniversary.

The Liangzhu Campus is located in the serene and picturesque Yuhang district of Hangzhou. It is known for its beautiful natural surroundings, incorporating the time-honored Liangzhu Culture and the Qiantang River.

The new campus signifies the school's commitment to expanding its reach and strengthening its influence in fine arts. With state-of-the-art facilities and a conducive learning environment, the campus will offer students and faculty the resources necessary to nurture creativity and artistic excellence.
