The three-year action plan (2024-26) for the WRSA Overseas Returnees Town in Hangzhou, focusing on digital medicine, was unveiled recently.

Over the next three years, the town will concentrate on two major frontiers in digital medicine and carry out actions related to industrial chains, talent cultivation, technological innovation, urban development, and global resource connections.

Additionally, the plan includes 12 initiatives, such as expanding industrial space and building a talent cultivation system, with the goal of achieving a cumulative regional investment of 20 billion yuan ($2.8 billion) and cumulative enterprise revenue surpassing 50 billion yuan.

The plan puts emphasis on boundaryless thinking, which encompasses boundaryless concepts, technologies, and talent.

Leveraging resources such as the Zhejiang University Hangzhou International Science and Technology Innovation Center, Xidian University Hangzhou Institute of Technology, and Xianghu Laboratory, the town plans to build a shared service platform for large-scale research equipment and devices. It will also establish shared production lines, facilitating concept validation, technology maturity evaluation, pilot-scale development, and small-scale trial production.

In September 2022, the WRSA Overseas Returnees Town Hangzhou (Digital Medicine) was inaugurated in Xiaoshan district with a planned core area of 3.78 square kilometers. The town has made strides in forming a digital medicine industry cluster, nurturing over 100 core enterprises in the sector.
