Hangzhou to unveil new cultural, tourism landmarks over next two years
Hangzhou is set to introduce several new cultural and tourism projects over the next two years. Let's take a look at what's coming.
New World City Art Center Phase II
Located within the Wangjiang community of Shangcheng district, the second phase of the New World City Art Center stretches from Wangbei Road to Haichao Road, and from Wujiang Road to Jinjiang Road.
The phase, scheduled for completion in December 2025, includes a total investment of 10 billion yuan ($1.39 billion). Covering a total construction area of 340,000 square meters, it will include a shopping and art center, office buildings, art residences, hotels, and more.

Hangzhou Iron & Steel Plant Protection Project Phase I
This project, expected to be completed by December 2024, includes a total investment of 9.9 billion yuan and will feature parks, cultural facilities, and sports facilities.
As part of the project, historical industrial sites such as coking workshops, coal storage warehouses, transfer stations, riveting workshops, employee dormitories, and bathhouses will be transformed into exhibition halls, visitor centers, restaurants, galleries, hotels, and even a diving museum.
Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal Museum
This project, expected to be completed by December 2025, includes a total investment of 3.19 billion yuan and will include the Grand Canal Museum, Grand Canal International Exchange Center, and supporting facilities, showcasing the cultural significance of the Grand Canal and the integration of culture and tourism.
