A delegation from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine offered their transplant expertise to Uzbekistan on March 11.

Led by hospital head Wang Weilin, a multidisciplinary team embarked on a five-day surgical and academic exchange trip to the country.

Wang Jiwei, minister counselor ad interim of the Chinese Embassy in Uzbekistan, highlighted that the signing of the memorandum and surgical exchanges between the medical institutions not only bring health benefits to Uzbek citizens but also exemplify the friendship and shared destiny between the two countries.

During their stay in the Central Asian country, the team completed several milestone surgeries, including Uzbekistan's first pediatric living donor liver transplant, the first adult living donor left lobe liver transplant, and the first laparoscopic living donor kidney transplant. All four surgery patients and their donors recovered well post-operation.
