An online event recently brought together former aid workers from Hangzhou and residents of Nagchu, Southwest China's Xizang autonomous region, to celebrate a three-decade bond of friendship and support.

This connection began in 1995 when 45 aid workers from East China's Zhejiang province, including the youngest member, Jiang Jun, arrived in Nagchu to improve the quality of local education. At that time, only 22.5 percent of school-age children there were enrolled in school.

Jiang's heartfelt letter seeking support has had a lasting impact, resulting in the establishment of four hope schools in Nagchu, one of which was named Nagchu Hangzhou Hope Primary School.

The event saw old friends and new acquaintances reunite, sharing memories and expressing gratitude for the continuous support and collaboration over the years.

The reunion highlighted stories like that of Zhu Wenzhou, a retired teacher who sent encouraging letters and newspaper clippings to Nagchu, and Zhang Hangjie, who follows in his father's footsteps, continuing to support Nagchu through donations and visits.

The event underscored the deep, undying connection between Hangzhou and Nagchu, showcasing the power of sustained efforts and mutual support in transforming lives and building lasting friendships.
