Hangzhou trade reaches 257.31 billion yuan in first four months of 2024

From January to April 2024, Hangzhou's imports and exports totaled 257.31 billion yuan ($35.5 billion), up 4.5 percent year-on-year, according to Qianjiang Customs.

Exports grew by 0.8 percent to 167.38 billion yuan, while imports surged by 12.1 percent to 89.93 billion yuan.

Key export categories included mechanical and electrical products, high-tech products, and pharmaceuticals, while the major import categories were metal ores and coal.

The EU, the United States, and Latin America were Hangzhou's top trading partners. Trade with these regions reached 40.12 billion yuan, 34.02 billion yuan, and 33.53 billion yuan, respectively. Exports to Belt and Road Initiative countries also grew, totaling 72.67 billion yuan.

The city had 14,000 enterprises engaged in foreign trade, an 8.7-percent increase, with private enterprises contributing 158.15 billion yuan, up 1.4 percent.
