Despite the arrival of Liqiu (the start of autumn), Hangzhou has continued to experience extreme heat, with the city issuing its seventh consecutive red heat alert yesterday. As of Aug 7, Hangzhou has recorded 32 days of high temperatures this year, with seven days exceeding 40 C.
The city's meteorological office predicts that the heat will persist until Aug 12, likely breaking historical records for the number of high-temperature days. Thunderstorms are expected in the coming days, offering some relief but also bringing risks of strong winds and heavy rain.
