Hangzhou will soon issue 430 million yuan ($60.79 million) worth of consumer vouchers to boost spending across various sectors, including dining, supermarkets, and consumer electronics such as mobile phones, tablets, and wearable devices.
The initiative, announced by the Hangzhou commerce bureau, is aimed at stimulating consumer demand and supporting retailers, benefiting both consumers and businesses.
This follows the city's recent trade-in subsidy program for consumer goods, further reinforcing its efforts to encourage consumption.
The commerce bureau has outlined detailed plans for the distribution, including the "Food in Hangzhou" dining vouchers, electronics trade-in vouchers, and supermarket vouchers.
From January to August, Hangzhou recorded a total of 493.93 billion yuan in retail sales of consumer goods, a year-on-year increase of 1.0 percent. In August alone, retail sales reached 62.62 billion yuan, up 3.8 percent. During the National Day holiday, the city saw total consumption of 29.47 billion yuan, a 28.9-percent increase, indicating a strong recovery in consumer spending.
